Batch heat treating is also performed in a heat treating cell that includes an area to handle incoming green or un-heat treated parts, tooling or fixturing in which to load the components, a charge cart used to move the load in cell, multiple atmosphere furnaces, an in-line wash system, multiple tempering furnaces and an unload and re-package area.
Batch processing is usually referred to as ‘batch integral quench / BIQ’ because the heat treating furnace and quench cell are located in the same chamber. American Steel Treating has seven batch heat treating furnaces, eleven complimentary batch tempering furnaces and multiple batch alkaline wash systems capable of batch neutral hardening, carbonitriding or carburize and harden up to 170,000 pounds per day.
We are compliant with Caterpillar standards for carburization.
